About Retro Bowl Unblocked

Retro Bowl is a pixel-art American football game by New Star Games: you run a team as head coach and general manager, then play its offense yourself on game day. This page runs the browser (HTML5) version with nothing to install.

The game drops you into a team near the end of a difficult season, which gives you a few games to learn the controls before your first full year. Fans, owner and players all judge you from there. Difficulty levels are Dynamic, Easy, Medium, Hard and Extreme.

Retro Bowl controls on a computer

  • Pass: click and drag in the opposite direction of the running receiver, then release to throw.
  • Low or high pass: click the right mouse button while you aim (the game calls this the bullet throw).
  • Hand off: click the blue circle at the start of a play to give the ball to your running back.
  • Side-step: press W or S while running.
  • Quarterback run: try to throw the ball backwards and he takes off; then use A or D to slow up or dive.
  • Kick: two well-timed clicks. The goal posts are as wide as the hash marks, and the faint triangle on the ground helps you line it up.

Running your team between games

  • Key players: you can keep up to 10 star players within the salary cap, or 12 if you switch to the $200m cap in the options. The rest of the squad is hidden.
  • Rookie draft: three rounds with one pick per round. Scout a player to reveal more about him, and trade players out of the team to earn extra picks.
  • Free agents: signing one takes coaching credits and cap space, and the best names go as the season wears on.
  • Trade deadline: once it passes you can only cut players, not trade them, until next season. You can still hire free agents.
  • Facilities: a better rehab facility speeds energy recovery and cuts injuries, a stadium upgrade gives the fans an immediate boost, and a training upgrade lifts player morale straight away.
  • Your career: coaching credit is respect from the owner, team and fans, not cash. After year two, other teams can offer you a job.

Tips from the game itself

  • Tired players fumble more, and older players lose more energy in a game. Rest a tired player to raise his morale.
  • Dive or run out of bounds to protect against a fumble. Running out of bounds also stops the clock.
  • Your quarterback's throwing range and your kicker's range both fall during a game according to stamina, so long throws and kicks get harder late on.
  • If your quarterback keeps getting rushed, you need stronger offensive linemen. Throwing the ball out of bounds is better than taking a sack.
  • Toxic players bring down team mates after a loss.

Retro Bowl Unblocked FAQs

Is Retro Bowl unblocked at school?

Retro Bowl runs in an ordinary browser tab from retrobowl.info, with nothing to download or install, so it plays on most school Chromebooks and work computers. If a network filter blocks the site, only that network's administrator can change it.

Is Retro Bowl free to play here?

Yes. The game runs in this page for free with no download or account. Ads on the page pay for the site.

Can I play Retro Bowl on a phone or tablet?

The game has touch controls: drag a finger away from the receiver to aim and release to throw, tap with a second finger to switch between a low and a high pass, and swipe to side-step or dive. New Star Games also publishes it as an app for iOS and Android.

How do I improve my team in Retro Bowl?

Fill the key player spots within the salary cap, scout before you use a draft pick, and spend coaching credits on the facility that fixes your biggest problem: rehab for tired or injured players, training for morale, stadium for the fans. Keep an eye on morale and condition, because low condition leads to injuries and fumbles.
